After graduating from McGill University with a degree in music performance Vanessa AvRuskin moved to Paris, France to study music (Paris Conservatory) and acting (École Internationale de Creation Audivisuelle et de Reportage). Since her return to Canada she has continued her career as a freelance musician and regular clarinetist in the Oshawa-Durham Symphony Orchestra but has primarily focused on acting. Her theatre credits include The Little Girl in The Story of The Little Gentleman (MTYP and Carousel Players), Cordelia in Lear's Daughters (Helen Phelan Gardiner Theatre), The Stepdaughter in Six Characters in Search of An Author (Robert Gill Theatre), Cecily in The Importance of Being Earnest (Port Carling), and Fame in The Progress of Love (Alumnae Theatre). Vanessa is co producer of Toronto Live a sketch comedy company and she performs and delivers comedy improvisation workshops with The Second City and Improv at Work at numerous venues throughout Southern Ontario. Her television credits include two seasons as Miss Ditsbury on YTV's System Crash and she will be premiering on Life Network's new show Sketch Troop airing this fall. Vanessa is still amazed that she has been given the opportunity to combine her two passions, music and acting, into one love, children's theatre.
