Period Music As It Was
Meant to be Heard

Concerts This Season

Applause

The Academy Concert Series brings live chamber music to Toronto that is faithful to period performance practices.

ACS presents three concerts a season with programs that are thematic and deliberately crafted to highlight a specific time, place and/or composer. The performers include established musicians as well as those in the developing stages of their careers, playing on period instruments and adhering to historical practices and interpretations. The music is introduced by a professional actor who helps the audience understand its historical significance and context through an engaging and dramatic narrative.

The first concert of our 2011-2012 season will be on November 12 at Eastminster United Church, 310 Danforth Avenue, in the heart of Toronto's Greektown (map). Tickets are only $17 (or $11 for students and seniors).

Please join us in our exploration of some of history's finest composers.

It's been a gift to all of us. Thank you for sharing your music, energy and enthusiasm with everyone in the audience.

The seldom-heard repertoire were all precious, well-polished gems: beautiful pieces, beautifully played. Well done!

The music was not only meltingly beautiful, it was performed with the greatest attention to authenticity of style, technique, and sound. There was a well-judged build-up in the program, with effective virtuoso showpieces for all instruments.

Top quality artistic event! The sort of event that helps make Toronto a world-class city.
